Each year Annual Report season rolls on as August approaches, and this year was no different for the publications team.
The vision of South Africa’s Perishable Products Export Control Board (or PPECB) is to engage with their stakeholders, build local competitiveness on a global platform and enhance the credibility of the South African export industry. It is about building a sustainable future with a brand that speaks of credibility and success.
To communicate these aims to an external audience, the PPECB required us to produce their Annual Report, in order to bring their target audience up to speed with current developments and to showcase what they do, using professional, strategic design aligned to their brand language.
We wanted the report to show that everything done at the PPECB, is of the highest assurances of quality, skill and care. The imagery, shot on location at packhouses, on farms, in warehouses and at exit points like harbours and airports, greatly enhanced the report’s final look and feel as nothing used was stock photography.
The design spoke to the specialised packaging used to take care of the fruit and vegetables that are exported all over the world, and was echoed in the typography which was made to look like the stamp on export crates. The cover was die-cut with small circles in the form of a heart, to reveal the company’s internal vision of being the kind of company where employees love the job they do, and are proud of the contribution they make towards the country’s GDP.
