TWG Tea, the finest luxury tea brand in the world, was established in Singapore in celebration of the island’s history as a trading post for fine teas and spices. Offering the world’s largest tea collection of over 1000 fine harvest teas and exclusive blends from every tea producing country, TWG Tea is constantly sourcing, innovating, expanding and refining the teas in its collection.
Our brief from The Tea Chest was to create a new brand that would encompass this grandeur, as they would be the exclusive importer of these fine teas to our own shores in South Africa. The brand had to speak of its exclusivity, heritage, import value and make all the right visual associations to connect it to a fine-quality cup of tea.
The route we chose spoke directly to the client’s need in the way we created an old-school treatment, using an importer’s shipping stamp and textures created with tea-stained materials. The brand was rolled out onto raw, uncoated brown board, adding to its authenticity and natural feel, and speaking to the high quality products inside.
Because there would be no retail outlet, the client would primarily be providing bulk orders to exclusive hotels, restaurants and spa’s in South Africa. This meant their website needed to be the primary point of customer interaction.
Thus, a CMS e-commerce website was designed to enable the client to take online orders from across South Africa and make all necessary updates to their site, if and when required.
The corporate identity, consisting of all print and digital material was rolled out along with the website.
