KARLA RAY: WHICH COMPANIES CAN BENEFIT FROM BUILDING A STRONG BRAND?
“If you’re in the marketplace, people are going to see you and have some kind of opinion of you. And building your brand is a way of influencing that. Which means every organisation, every public figure – anyone visible out in the marketplace – can and should invest in developing their brand image, identity and positioning.”
An accountant by trade, Karla landed up doing the books in the creative space with Design Infestation purely by chance, at first. And now, almost 11 years later, she says she loves being able to handle finances within a team of good people doing great work for brands.
PALMER MASHONGA: WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BRAND AND BRANDING?
“The brand is the personality and identity of your company, and you can create it strategically to position yourself in a certain way. Branding is the visual side of things. It’s the name, symbols, colours and imagery that makes something instantly identifiable as belonging to your brand.”
Best known for always wearing a smile, Palmer has been helping ensure our brand agency ticks over as studio administrator for over 3 years now.
MELISSA SHERWIN: EXAMPLES OF AWESOME RECENT BRAND WORK
Locally, the team did exceptional work for the V&A Waterfront, including their plastic-free campaign, as well as the rebrand on Safety SA and, of course, Horizon Capital’s destination property branding.
Internationally, we helped launch the 361 Degrees Sports brand in various markets around the world and helped reinvigorate the department store chain Matahari.
Cool-headed and known for her infectious positivity, account manager Melissa is another of the team with international experience. And she’s known for often making the seemingly impossible a reality for her clients.

Often the first face visitors to our offices see, Bernie helps welcome guests and makes them feel at home. She’s been in charge of our reception for nearly a decade and a half.
